The ESL program is designed for non-native speakers of English whose language skills need support for their eventual mainstream to regular courses. The program will develop fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English, will enhance students' esteem, encourage cross-cultural understanding, and faciltate academic achievement. Students' English proficiency is determined by the instructor and the use of an assessment and coordinated by the school counselor. Three courses are offered, two in English at different levels of proficiency, and an US American culture course which is required for all newly arrived high school students. This class will focus on US American culture and history, answer questions about the transition to the country, and provide an environment for sharing experiences with others in the same situation.
